How to make contributions to Aksharam ?

For contributions in Indian Rupees:


(a) Direct Donations: Donors can send a Demand Draft (DD) or Cheque in favour of Aksharam Educational Foundation, and mail to:Aksharam Educational Trust, BRINDAVANAM, #7 TEN DOWNING, Lakshman Road, CBIColony 1st Main Road, Perungudi, Chennai, India 600096.


(b) Online Donations: Donors can make internet money transfer in Indian Rupees directly to the account of Aksharam Educational Foundation: A/c No. : 04632090001561 Current Account Bank : Kotak Mahindra Bank, Adayar Branch, Chennai, IFSC Code : KKBK0000463

Note: Donations to the foundation are eligible for deductions under Section 80G of Indian Income Tax Act 1961, vide DIT(E) No.2(693)09-10 dated 29th April 2010.

If you are a USA resident and would like to avail tax exemption:

We are pleased to inform you that Aksharam has been successfully registered with the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization (Ref: EIN: 04- 3524860, dated July 24, 2000). This allows individual donors (US tax payers only) to claim their contributions to Aksharam as tax exempt.

(a) Direct Donations: Within the United States of America, donors can send their direct donations in the form of a personal cheque payable to Aksharam Education Fund Inc. to: Giridharan Bharathan, Treasurer, Aksharam Education Fund Inc. 11, Cobblestone way, N.Billerica, MA - 01862, USA.

(b) Online Donations: Donors can make online donations to Aksharam through the PayPal system or by pressing the button below. PayPal provides the worlds first instant and secure online payment service. With PayPal, individuals and businesses can send and receive payments through the Internet. Donors will receive an email notification of this transaction after it has successfully completed. This feature can be used by a donor who has either a VISA or a MasterCard credit card.



(c) Employer Contributions: Donors can also avail of the policy of matching contributions from their employer if such a policy is in place. Donors are encouraged to talk to the Human Resources department of their employers to enquire about such programs.
